After a six month wait, the final decision was made as to which moving company in the Charleston, S.C. area would win the moving contract with the Department of Defense. In February, the pool began with 26 movers, four were qualified and entered bids and the winner - Azalea Moving & Storage - was granted the contract in July 2012.
This four year contract will extend through July 2016. The contract entitles the Charleston movers to prepare the personal property of the Department of Defense (DOD) personnel for shipment and/or storage and related services in the following three counties in South Carolina: Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley.
Azalea Moving & Storage can transport military personnel, as well as their family long distance to another base in the U.S. or to an international destination. During an international relocation, Azalea will arrange for an Allied agent in the destination country to pick up the shipment from the port or airport to complete the door-to-door delivery.
"We [the Charleston movers] are proud to serve the service members of our U.S. military," said Josh Keiffer, president of Azalea Moving & Storage. "Anything we can do to make their lives a little bit easier is worth every minute because of what they do for us every minute of every day - protecting their country and its citizens."
Charleston military moving can offer the following services to those DOD personnel living in Charleston, Dorchester or Berkeley County:
