Kalkidan Alemayehu was recently named the winner of the Ethiopian Heritage College Scholarship for 2012, sponsored by the Washington D.C. law firm Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata, & Siegel, P.C.

Kalkidan Alemayehu was recently named the winner of the Ethiopian Heritage College Scholarship for 2012, sponsored by the Washington D.C. law firm Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata, & Siegel, P.C. Ms. Alemayehu was selected based on her written essay, academic standing (judged according to high school GPA), and community service.

Ms. Alemayehu will be attending Christopher Newport University in the fall. Washington D.C. lawyers Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata, & Siegel, P.C. presented Ms. Alemayehu with the award on August 10, 2012 in their D.C. offices. Ida Daniel, the first recipient of the Ethiopian Heritage College Scholarship, also attended the awards ceremony to congratulate the new winner and wish her well.

The Ethiopian Heritage College Scholarship accepted applications from students in the Washington D.C. metro area who graduated high school for the 2012 academic year. The $1,000 scholarship will be disbursed in two equal payments during the months of August 2012 and February 2013.
