Mesothelioma advocates and supporters are encouraged to spread the word and participate in Mesothelioma Awareness Day
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) August 31, 2012
The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is pleased to announce Mesothelioma Awareness Day to be held on Wednesday, September 26. Together with Meso Foundation volunteers, participants can take part in awareness activities across the nation to help make this event a success.
The purpose of Mesothelioma Awareness Day is to not only raise awareness for the disease, but to join together to raise funds for mesothelioma research. Gatherings of people all across the country wearing matching t-shirts and bracelets, posting meso-related posts on social media sites, sharing mesothelioma literature and simply talking about it can have a huge influence on the spread of mesothelioma awareness. Funds raised help support mesothelioma research projects. This year, the Knowledge is Hope conference, organized by the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, will be held in New York City on September 28.
In 2010, Congress officially declared September 26th as National Mesothelioma Awareness Day, and since then 12 states permanently declared Meso Awareness Day and 34 cities and counties recognized this day locally.
Mesothelioma advocates and supporters are encouraged to spread the word and participate in Mesothelioma Awareness Day by making social media posts about the day, getting their city or state to recognize the day, organizing a fundraising event, attending an event put together by a Meso Foundation volunteer, contacting their local media or joining the crowd of attendees at Rockefeller Plaza during the Today Show on September 26. Those interested can learn more and find out if a mesothelioma awareness event is taking place near them by visiting the Foundation’s website.
