The Palms Hotel in the Isle of Palms, SC welcomes participants of the 20th Annual Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child on Saturday, October 6th. The IOP Connector Run and Walk for the Child is a 10K and 5K run and walk event that raises funds for local organizations to help the prevention of child abuse in Charleston, SC.

The IOP Connector Run is celebrating its 20th anniversary so the Palm Hotel expects a record attendance of this event. The previous year brought over 1,400 participants. The race starts at 8:00am on Palm Boulevard and participants will travel across the IOP Connector into Mount Pleasant while enjoying the views of the intracoastal waterway and marshes. Runners will come back across the Connector and cross the finish line at J.C. Long Boulevard on the Isle of Palms. All experience levels are welcome and participants can enjoy a post-race festival that includes a complimentary beer garden, live music from PlaneJane and kid-friendly activities.

The IOP Connector Run is presented by the Exchange Clubs of Mount Pleasant and Isle of Palms, the City of Isle of Palms and the Town of Mount Pleasant. Sponsors include Bi-Lo, Crews Subaru of Charleston, Charleston City Paper, Skirt Magazine and Clear Channel Radio. Registration is currently available online or by mail. Registration fees are $30 for 10K and 5K runs and $25 for 5K walk before August 31st. After August 31st, fees increase by $5. T-shirts are included in the registration fee. Registration will also be available in person on October 4th through the 6th at the Isle of Palms Exchange Club on 201 Palm Boulevard.
