INFINITT North America, a leading image and information management company in healthcare, announced today that the company will be providing INFINITT Smart-NET, their cloud-based PACS solution, to support Michigan Healthcare Professionals PC, a newly-formed multi-specialty medical group consisting of more than 250 physicians across the state of Michigan.
Specialties include radiology, internal medicine, family medicine, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, oncology, cardiology, rheumatology, pathology and geriatrics.
Physicians joining the consortium are part of Millennium Medical Group PC (Southfield, MI); Oakland Medical Group PC (Farmington Hills, MI); Comprehensive Medical Center PLLC (Troy, MI); 21st Century Oncology of Michigan ( East Lansing, MI); and several other physician groups. Both Millennium and Oakland Medical Groups have been long-time customers of INFINITT.
According to radiologist Christopher Sweet, M.D., the vision is to have these groups tied into a common network with centralized archiving hosted by INFINITT. Physicians will be able to refer their patients to other healthcare providers within the network knowing that they have ready access to the patient’s medical record, reports and diagnostic images. And, as lines of communication become better established, the patient will also benefit through greater collaboration between caregivers.

In order to be interfaced to the PACS network, legacy equipment that is not DICOM-compliant will have to be upgraded. Modalities that have remained film-based will be converted to digital and the network will support medical images and reports from Radiology, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiology/ Cardiovascular Imaging and Radiation Oncology. The radiology group expects to read 75,000 to 80,000 studies in the first year, with further volume increases as the consortium grows.

The beauty of INFINITT Smart-NET cloud-based solution is that it shifts all IT management issues over to INFINITT. MHP won’t have to worry about expansion, security or data backup. INFINITT will retain multiple copies of each image and provide several levels of security for HIPAA compliance. INFINITT will monitor the network and the storage capacity, utilizing a virtualized server environment in their data center to ensure the highest levels of uptime and availability.
