Barracuda-Lightning - Best Electric Motorcycle of the Year

The Lightning, without a doubt, is the fastest motorcycle I’ve ever ridden – gas or electric.

San Carlos, Calif. (PRWEB) August 31, 2012

On the heels of a highly acclaimed win at the FIM e-Power/TTXGP at Laguna Seca, the Barracuda-Lightning SuperBike continues to make waves in the motorcycle racing community just this week being named Best Electric Motorcycle of the Year by Motorcycle.com, who also featured Barracuda-Lightning as “the fastest motorcycle ever ridden” in a stellar review.

“I’m confident when I say Richard Hatfield, CEO and founder of Lightning Motorcycles, has produced a sportbike sure to change the minds of anyone doubting electric motorcycle performance,” said Troy Siahaan, reviewer with Motorcycle.com. “The Lightning, without a doubt, is the fastest motorcycle I’ve ever ridden – gas or electric.”

“We are extremely honored to receive such praise from Motorcycle.com, being named Best Electric Motorcycle and receiving an amazing review,” commented Hatfield. “We’ve worked hard to make it the world’s greatest SuperBike, and we look forward to delivering that same power and performance to the consumer market.”

Motorcycle.com praised Lightning’s soon-to-be-released consumer-level electric motorcycle, each which is built to order. The standard option is powered by a 12kWh battery and a motor directly from a GM Tahoe Hybrid SUV, which Motorcycle.com claims allows the bike to “flat out haul.” The solar panels the racing team uses to charge their bikes will be available to consumers should they want a truly green motorcycling experience. The consumer-level electric bike starts at $38,000 and the magazine says, “If you can afford one, you’ll be in a very exclusive club.”

The reviewer concluded, “The acceleration is mind-boggling and it was all I could do just to hang on. Power is delivered in a progressive, linear fashion, the Lightning unleashed a fury unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Trust me when I say the Lightning is unlike anything I’ve ever ridden.”
