Kars 4 Kids donated over 12,000 energy drinks to The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and plans on dropping them off this Thursday. Seven pallets of the 20-ounce bottles will be delivered to the Jersey Shore food bank, which serves over 260 pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs.
Children are a core part of The FoodBank’s charity recipients, with nutritious meals distributed to after-school programs, youth shelters and daycare centers. The FoodBank’s Backpack Program feeds chronically hungry school children from nine Monmouth and Ocean County schools by providing them with a backpack of nutritious foods to take home on weekends and school vacations, when they do not receive school lunch, often their only full meal in the day.
“Kars 4 Kids recognizes that what kids eat affects how they perform in school,” Kars 4 Kids’ Steven Weldler said. “Children who are hungry cannot focus on their schoolwork properly, and their education suffers.” The nonprofit is dedicated to making educational opportunities available to all children, and ensuring that needy children have access to proper nourishment is key to that mission.
“We are happy to partner with The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties to bring wholesome food to children, and families, who would otherwise go hungry,” Weldler said.
Kars 4 Kids is a national car donation program that turns old cars into educational dollars. They are based in Lakewood New Jersey.
