When Juliet and Lane relocated from Southern California to New Mexico, they were frustrated at the lack of online information about the American Southwest. As a result, they created Southwest Compass to fill the void, and to help prevent other budget-conscious travelers from getting lost in the desert. The site goes live today.
Information is laid out state by state, and includes coverage of attractions, great drives, and festival guides. The blog focuses on the Southwest’s unique history and culture; it also offers practical tips and advice about road tripping, and on surviving the extremes of the region.
“The Southwest is a giant, outdoor canvas containing twenty national parks,” says co-author Juliet White. “However, it can also feel isolated and be hard to navigate. That’s where Southwest Compass comes in. We’re a one-stop shop for those wanting to learn about this part of the country.”
Future plans for the website include expanding the destinations covered, releasing a monthly newsletter, 'The Road Report', and adding to our media libraries.
About the Authors: Juliet White is a freelance writer for online and print publications, and for the educational market. Lane Billings is an ex-screenwriter, a foodie, and a photography enthusiast. Both have road maps for veins and are excited to share their passion for travel with others.
