Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) September 03, 2012
One of the newest participants in Move For Hunger is La Habra Relocations, an Orange County moving company. These movers located in Anaheim will join over 330 relocation companies and over 160 real estate professionals in over 43 states to fight hunger across America. To date, this initiative has collected over 685,000 lbs of food for food bank pantries.
"Working with our customers to give back to the community we service daily is an incredible feeling," said Tom Smith. "Food that otherwise would have been thrown out to lighten the load can now be put to good use at a local food bank."
The Anaheim movers will collect all of the unwanted, non-perishable food items in our customers' homes and will transport pound after pound to food banks throughout Southern California, specifically throughout the Los Angeles and Orange Counties. La Habra Relocations decided to take part in this program after learning about some startling numbers related to hunger and moving in America. The number of Americans that struggle to find their next meal is 1 in 6, while the number of Americans that relocate each year is 1 in 7.
Move For Hunger was founded by Adam Lowy after he witnessed the amount of food thrown out from working with his family's moving company in New Jersey. Person after person threw out perfectly edible food. Now Lowy is taking action against this to help feed those families in need with food from their neighbors in the community.
