Machu Picchu celebrated 100 years of rediscovery last year, which stimulated interest in visiting the famous Inca citadel.

The world’s longest established travel company, Cox & Kings, has launched its new programme of Latin America tours for 2013 featuring a comprehensive programme of escorted tours, including a new group tour to Ecuador, a new private tour to Cuba as well as an array of tailor-made travel ideas throughout the continent.

Cox & Kings reports that passenger numbers to Latin America have increased by 20% compared to 2011. Argentina, Peru and Chile have seen the most growth in 2012, with the Train to Machu Picchu escorted group tour of Peru seeing 76% more passengers compared to 2011. New flight routings and hotel openings, as well as competitive prices have seen clients combining countries in order to get the most value out of their trips. Vessela Baleva, Latin America product manager at Cox & Kings says, “In the last year, LAN Airlines have launched direct flights from Lima to both Easter Island and the Iguaçu Falls. Machu Picchu celebrated 100 years of rediscovery last year, which stimulated interest in visiting the famous Inca citadel, but clients increasingly want to combine more of the region’s wonders in one journey. We’ve introduced some new sample itineraries to show how easy it can be to combine these destinations”.

NEW: PERU & EASTER ISLAND - The direct flight between Lima and Easter Island means it’s now possible to explore the heritage of the Rapa Nui and Incas, two very distinct yet fascinating cultures. Cox & Kings’ new 13-day / 10-night itinerary, priced from £3,195 per person, combines Santiago and Easter Island with Lima, Cuzco and Machu Picchu.

NEW: PERU, IGUAÇU & RIO - Combining Peru and Brazil, as well as visiting two of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu and Christ the Redeemer, has been made easier with the introduction of the direct flight from Lima to the Iguaçu Falls. This 13-day / 10-night itinerary suggests visiting Lima, Machu Picchu, Iguaçu and Rio de Janeiro and is priced from £3,595 per person.

NEW: ECUADOR & GALAPAGOS EXPERIENCE - This new group tour to Ecuador combines visits to the colonial centre of Quito and a local market in Cotopaxi National Park, with the opportunity to experience the Galapagos Islands on a 5-night cruise. The 11-day / 9-night escorted tour is priced from £3,595 per person and there are optional extensions to Cuzco and Machu Picchu, the Ecuadorian Amazon or Cuenca.

NEW: CUBA: Cuba has long been a popular destination for Cox & Kings and demand has remained high throughout 2012. New for 2013 is Journey through Cuba, which is a 16-day / 14-night private tour priced from £2,645 per person covering Cuba from west to east. There has been a 10% increase in bookings on the Cuban Discovery escorted group tour compared to 2011 and it is now the second bestselling tour in Latin America with six additional departure dates being added for 2013. The 11-day / 9-night escorted tour is priced from £1,795 per person and includes international flights with Virgin Atlantic, transfers, excursions and accommodation with breakfast daily and other meals as specified.

NEW: TASTE OF BRAZIL - As the sporting world now looks towards the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the World Cup in 2014, it is predicted that tourism will benefit prior to the events with further investment being made into Brazil’s infrastructure and accommodation. Cox & Kings’ new 11-day / 9-night Taste of Brazil private tour is a stylish but affordable introduction into the southern highlights of this vibrant country priced from £2,595 per person.

TAILOR-MADE SUGGESTIONS: The 2013 Latin America brochure has additional tailor-made content to provide suggestions for exploring regions away from the well-trodden tourist path. Tailor-made bookings to Latin America in 2012 have increased by 10% compared to 2011 and the new brochure contains sample journeys to show how different regions can be combined and more destination information is given to provide inspiration. Baleva says, “We want to encourage people to explore areas off the beaten track in the knowledge that they will be accompanied by an expert local guide, who will bring the destination to life and allow them to experience something different”.

NEW: CENTRAL AMERICA Demand for Central America has been increasing steadily over the past few years and the 2013 brochure features expanded tailor-made sections for Costa Rica, Belize, Guatemala and Panama, including self-drive suggestions in Costa Rica and a Star-Clipper cruise from Panama. Less explored than their neighbours, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador offer beautiful scenery and rewarding travel experiences off the main tourist trail. Back Roads of Central America is a new 16-day / 14-night private tour discovering the colourful towns and natural landscapes of these countries priced from £3,495 per person.

All prices include flights, transfers and guided excursions and accommodation with breakfast daily and other meals as specified.
