“IT administrators will immediately notice differences in Windows Server 2012 layout and functionality – but changes go all the way down to the bone,” said Jones.

CBT Nuggets today announced “Microsoft Server 2012: First Look," a new, free IT training series for Microsoft® Windows Server® 2012. Windows Server 2012 includes hundreds of enhancements spanning cloud computing, networking, storage, virtualization and more – and presents one of the most substantial redesigns in Windows Server product line history. As a result, IT managers must learn how to use new features and revamped tools, in addition to mastering more complex tasks.

The First Look video series is designed as an online resource for IT professionals preparing to migrate to Windows Server 2012. Hosted by Don Jones – CBT Nuggets trainer, Microsoft MVP and featured speaker at Microsoft TechEd and TechMentor conferences – the First Look series examines new product features, provides troubleshooting tips and answers questions on a variety of topics including:

  •     Role specific feature improvements that include Server Core, Minimal Server GUI, Direct Access, and major Hyper-V enhancements.
  •     PowerShell v3 and Web Access: Learn how it works, how it’s secured and how to enable and use it on your servers.
  •     IIS 8.0 new under the radar but crucial improvements.

“IT administrators will immediately notice differences in Windows Server 2012 layout and functionality – but changes go all the way down to the bone,” said Jones. “A new Start Screen, new PowerShell commands, and a new PowerShell Help System are just the beginning. Adapting to this software will require time for even seasoned administrators.”

CBT Nuggets is also producing eight additional video series to prepare IT professionals for Microsoft MCSE and MCSA certifications, which will be available in coming months. In addition to Don Jones, trainers include Greg Shields, Microsoft MVP and founding partner at Concentrated Technology; James Conrad, IT professional with over 20 years’ experience covering every generation of Microsoft products dating back to MS-DOS; and Timothy Warner, systems engineer and widely published corporate technical trainer.
