ReallyManaging Assessment enables users to create, manage and deploy tests, quizzes, questionnaires and learning materials on web, mobile and tablet, for use online and offline.
The release features a brand new look and feel, especially for iPad users. It's the most advanced IMS QTI 2.1 standards-based assessment app available on the iOS platform, allowing interoperability with other systems adopting the latest QTI version. It allows learners to download assessments sent by their tutors, respond on or offline, any time, any place, and re-sync their responses back to their personal learning area when they have a connection.
The University Of Leeds School Of Medicine have been using the system since 2010 to support student doctors in the workplace. All medical students are using the web based system, with each year 4 and year 5 medical student being loaned an Apple iPhone 3GS. At this stage of the Leeds medical degree, undergraduates typically spend much of their time in hospitals, GP surgeries and community health clinics. ReallyManaging Assessment allows students to upload reflections on cases they have seen (with sensitive information removed) to an online portfolio, in real time or offline within a workplace setting.
Writing in the Lancet, medical technology commentator Niall Boyce comments: “the iPhone is helping the medical school to provide consistent support for students, and to get them into good habits for the future.”
Peter Thompson, CEO of MyKnowledgeMap, said: “One of the key student satisfaction metrics for Universities is based on the quality of tutor feedback for effective student support. Quality assessment with timely response is vital to improving this process, and by using mobile technology, we’ve made it much easier to deliver critical feedback at the moment of need and with the maximum convenience.”
“In 2011, the National Student Survey found that 97% of final year medical students were satisfied with their experience at the Leeds School of Medicine, up 12% on the 2010 survey. These were the first final year students to have used the iPhone assessment tools from MyKnowledgeMap throughout their course and the greatest increases were in the area of assessment & feedback.”
