Homegrown warriors honored at Midwest’s first SEAL – Naval Special Warfare Family Foundation Event.

The SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Family Foundation, in association with Cushman & Wakefield in Chicago, will host a special event September 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the River East Art Center, 435 E. Illinois Street, Chicago, IL dedicated to true American heroes, the US Navy SEALs, and their families.

The festivities will begin with a reception and dinner for all guests. Former military operative, CNN embedded reporter, and famed television producer Ken Robinson will present a National Security Briefing and review the role Special Operations Forces will play in the years ahead. His 24 year career with Special Forces, the CIA, the NSA and the Office of the Secretary of Defense make him uniquely qualified to explain the challenges America faces in the decade ahead. Additionally, Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and retired Navy SEALs LT Tom Norris and LT Michael Thornton will discuss the life of Navy SEALs and how families bear the burden of deployment.

All recruits begin their journey towards becoming a Navy SEAL in the Chicagoland area by attending the Naval Special Warfare Preparatory School in Great Lakes, IL. Those tough enough to make it through the program at Great Lakes move on to the infamous Basic Underwater Demolitions/SEALs (BUDS) training program in San Diego.

“The SEAL-NSW Family Foundation recognizes the sacrifice of the warrior, as well as the sacrifice of those left at home,” said SEAL-NSW Family Foundation President Craig Irving. “This special evening will provide everyone with a rare inside glimpse of these elite warriors and the families that sustain them.”

As part of this evening’s event, there will be both a silent and live auction filled with truly once in a lifetime experiences including Tandem Parachute Jumps, Defensive Driving Schools, Zero Gravity Plane Experiences, Jet Fighter Flights and elite hands-on weapon training. All proceeds go to the SEAL-NSW Family Foundation. For more information or for details on how to get involved, please visit http://www.greatlakeseals.com.

ABOUT THE SEAL-NSW FAMILY FOUNDATION
The SEAL-NSW Family Foundation is a 501(c)3 National Charity dedicated to supporting individual and family readiness through an array of programs specifically targeted to assist the Naval Special Warfare community in maintaining a resilient, sustainable, and ready force.
With SEALs, that mission takes on a unique dimension because the MAN is the Platform. It is his body and mind that carries him into and sustains him during the fight. He does not fly a plane, drive a tank, or operate with a large force.

His ability to stay fit and focused determines the success of every mission. Part of our job is to facilitate that focus by ensuring every SEAL downrange knows his family is, and will be taken care of.
The SEAL-NSW Family Foundation motto is "Taking care of THEIR family while they protect OURS.”
