Tel Aviv, Israel (PRWEB) September 02, 2012
The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has announced that Joey T. Shabot has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Tel Aviv office.
Shabot, the fourth attorney in recent months to move to Greenberg Traurig in Israel, focuses his practice on M&A, financing, and other corporate transactions. He previously practiced with the New York firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz where he began his legal career in 2005, and just concluded one year as a visiting corporate attorney with the law firm of Meitar Liquornik Geva & Leshem Brandwein in Tel Aviv.
Shabot received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. He is fluent in Hebrew, Arabic and French.
Shabot’s experience includes advising on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, private investments in public entities (PIPEs), securities offerings, and corporate governance, in transactions involving companies across a variety of industries based throughout the world including the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, Israel, the Bahamas, Cayman Islands and China. He has also represented borrowers in financing aspects of leveraged acquisitions, including negotiation, implementation and issues of credit facilities and debt securities. Shabot has particular experience advising potential buyers and sellers of distressed assets, and assisting bank groups and investors in workouts and restructurings.
“A real full-service international law firm on the ground in Israel is an idea long overdue,” said Shabot. “Because they attract capital from all over the world and operate in countless jurisdictions, Israeli businesses know no boundaries. Neither should their law firm. Greenberg Traurig, with its presence in so many business hubs and deep experience in nearly every legal practice area, is a winning combination for our clients in Israel. This is especially true in light of the firm's well-known commitment to excellence as well as value."
“We now have on-the-ground resources in Israel for corporate, financing, technology, energy, environmental, litigation and international dispute resolution,” said Bob Grossman, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Israel Practice. “These capabilities, coupled with the attorneys and experience resident in the firm’s other 34 offices, bring an unparalleled team to our Israeli clients.”
This is the kind of team we envisioned building for our clients when we first started to plan our Tel Aviv location,” said Gary Epstein, chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Corporate & Securities Practice and managing shareholder of its Tel Aviv office. "Joey Shabot is another example of an attorney with world-class experience and proven ability to handle a company's most sensitive and significant matters, who will now be close at hand to our clients in Tel Aviv to advise them in their own time zone and their own language."
The firm’s Israel Practice provides a range of non-Israeli legal services to Israeli clients in their global activity, as well as to companies seeking opportunities within Israel. The team has wide-ranging experience advising public and private companies in Israel on U.S. corporate issues, securities laws and corporate governance. The firm advises on in-bound U.S. public offerings by Israeli companies, and counsels all sides of cross-border merger and acquisition transactions involving Israeli companies. Greenberg Traurig attorneys also assist companies with venture capital and private equity transactions, executive compensation matters, intellectual property, tax, dispute resolution, regulatory and compliance issues.
Greenberg Traurig’s practice groups and attorneys have been recognized as No. 1 in their respective geographic regions by The National Law Journal, Chambers & Partners, Corporate Board Member magazine, Latin Lawyer magazine and numerous regional and local professional publications.
