We maintain our audits and Certifications to demonstrate our controls for data safety and integrity, said Raj Kosuri, EcomNets Chief Executive Officer.

HERNDON, VA (PRWEB) September 04, 2012

EcomNets, a leading sustainable IT technology solutions company, today announced that it has successfully completed its audit in conformity with ‘Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16, Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization.’ The in-depth SOC 1 audit replaces EcomNets older SAS 70 Certifications. This critical review and examination has led EcomNets to achieve Type II certification for its datacenter. The audit examines the effectiveness of internal controls supporting EcomNets’ critical datacenter services. SSAE 16 is the new auditing standard developed in 2011 by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), effectively replacing SAS 70 as the authoritative guidance for reporting on service organizations.

Completion of the SSAE 16 Type II examination indicates that critical EcomNets operational processes, procedures and controls have been formally evaluated and tested by an independent accounting and auditing firm. The examination included EcomNets’ datacenter controls related to: Control Environment, Information Security, Physical Security, Change management and Data Communications.

The SSAE 16 standard has been designated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an acceptable method for a user entity’s management to obtain assurance about service organization internal controls without conducting additional assessments. In addition, the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 make SSAE 16 reports even more important to the process of reporting on effective internal controls by public companies.

“We maintain our audits and Certifications to demonstrate our controls for data safety and integrity,” said Raj Kosuri, EcomNets Chief Executive Officer. “Our SOC 1 audit adds confidence and peace of mind for our customers concerned about their data security. EcomNets’ SSAE 16 TYPE II accreditation provides critical endorsement that the controlled areas of our data center are operated in a standardized, auditable and verifiable manner. We are committed to the highest standards of information security and process controls in our datacenter.”

The SSAE 16 examination is widely recognized across industry, as representation that a service organization like EcomNets has been through a rigorous evaluation of their control activities as they relate to an audit of the financial statements of its customers. A Type II report not only includes a detailed review of EcomNets’ system, but also includes detailed testing of the design and operating effectiveness of the service organization's controls.
