PwC sees global interest in Australian renewable energy up, Big4.com reports

Interest is driven by China and Japan as renewable energy target looms

Big4.com reports that globally, the value of deals halved to $US50.8 billion in the first half from $US109.6 billion the year before, but deals value in the Asia Pacific region more than tripled from $US7.5 billion to $US23.6 billion. The report, Asia Pacific Power & Renewable Deals: 2012 half-year analysis and M&A Outlook, found that merger and acquisition activity in the region's power sector far outpaced the rest of the world.
Big4.com also notes that the largest renewable deal involved Japan's Eurus Energy – a subsidiary of Tepco - agreeing to acquire the Hallett 5 Wind farm for $US129 million, its first wind power investment in Australia.
