We call it the Swiss Army Knife of lights

What has former Howard Stern Alum Steve Grillo been up to these past six months? Just introducing Hollywood to the most versatile and energy efficient LED lighting fixture for the TV and Film Biz, that’s all. “The Luminator”, as it’s known, is a new product from a small lighting company called “BriteShot” and is taking Hollywood by storm.
“So far the Luminator is being used on 2 Broke Girls, Blue Bloods, Boardwalk Empire, Royal Pains, 30 Rock, and just recently we found out that they’re going to use our Luminators to light the Red Carpet at the Emmys.” says Grillo.
“What sets this light apart from all others is that it does so many different things” says Roy McDonald, one of the principals and co-developer of The Luminator. “The Luminator is VERY bright, you don’t need color gels, you can change the color temperature to anything you desire and it has built in effects like police lights, fire, lightning and a whole lot more. What’s making it so popular is that it only uses 3.8 amps of power and doesn’t produce any noticeable heat. Your talent, and the room, doesn’t get hot and you save big bucks on electricity and air conditioning. Basically you can plug 5 of these very bright lights into one 20 amp outlet in your home. Plus,if you left The Luminator on for 5 years without shutting it off, The Luminators’ LED’s would still be emitting light. ” says McDonald. “Yeah, we call it the Swiss Army Knife of lights” jokes Grillo.
Sales of The Luminator have doubled since the fixture was developed and more and more people have been renting or buying them. Sales request aren’t just restricted to The United States either, inquiries have come from countries throughout Europe, Russia and Asia. “If you’re a big budget production, you would be crazy not to have a few on your truck and if you are a smaller independent film or TV show, it maybe the only lights you’ll need.” says Grillo. The Luminator has been getting the notice of the financial world too. “It’s funny, we have gotten people wanting to invest in our company as well as bigger companies wanting to buy us outright.” says McDonald. For right now though, McDonald and Grillo are content to go from soundstage to soundstage showing off this incredible product to any DP, Gaffer, Director or Producer who will watch. “It’s been fun showing people a product that amazes the most seasoned veteran in the film and TV biz” says McDonald.
