The main feature of TransitMap is to provide public transit directions for cities everywhere in the world (More than 400 cities located in more than 40 countries). This feature was previously built-in into the Maps application and has been removed from the newly released version of the iOS system (iOS 6). In TransitMap, the user can search for directions directly from the application or from the iOS Maps application. User can still use the Maps application to search for directions as they are used to. Additionally to providing directions for public transportation in a single city, TransitMap provides directions to transit between cities in some regions to help the user to plan long distance trip.
TransitMap provides detailed results to the user to help him to plan correctly his public transit ride. The user can see the complete path on the map additionally to the detailed text instructions. The detailed instructions provide all information the user needs to reach his destination easily and quickly. As part of the detailed instructions, TransitMap displays the line number and name, the departure information (Location and time) and the arrival information (Location and time). This information is updated for each step and transit the user has to take to guide them effectively through each step of his ride.
With an integrated search feature that give the user the ability to search for a place, city or country everywhere in the world, the user can easily find his destination and get the direction for get there quickly. If the user prefers to select his destination on the map by adding a marker, this feature is also supported to provide the user the best experience possible.
