On September 5th, Likewise Skincare, a moisturizer manufacturer, responds to an article published for the Inquirer Business in regards to which foods can improve the health and look of skin.

The article refers to a Telegraph study specifying that skin will appear healthier and more youthful if people begin a diet consisting of eating five or more portions of vegetables and fruits a day. In addition, according to the Telegraph study a change in skin can be seen within six weeks by adding just two additional portions of vegetables and fruits each day. According to the article, “Papaya contains papain, a powerful anti-aging enzyme; Banana contains many important anti-aging nutrients; Beetroot is loaded with nutrients to help us look younger; Cucumber is well-known for its skin-healing properties; Radish contains nutrients to fight premature aging.”

According to Lisa Shariat, representative for Likewise Skincare, “A person’s diet should always been taken into consideration when it comes to healthy skin. By keeping hydrated with plenty of water and consuming various fruits and vegetables, people can expect to keep their skin beautiful from the inside out. However, I do believe people must remember the various external factors that can affect skin. It’s extremely important to keep skin protected from harmful UV rays, which can lead to premature aging and skin cancer. In addition to eating right, I recommend moisturizing daily with a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 50, which will keep the skin hydrated and defend against sun damage.”

The Inquirer Business refers to the book “You Being Beautiful” by Dr. Michael F. Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz which suggests brown rice, soybeans, legumes, avocados and other nuts for promoting healthier skin.

Likewise Skincare was founded by board certified dermatologist and President of Likewise, Inc., Dr. Julie Pena. The moisturizers created by Likewise are all-in-one but not one-fits-all. All of the moisturizers are formulated with skin-balancing toners that are meant to work with your specific skin type.
