On September 5th, Colle, an organic farmers market community, commends an article published for North Country Public Radio which discusses the positive changes for farmers markets in Watertown, New York brought on by their downtown revitalization project.
According to the article, a new pavilion has been built by the city of Watertown which will host various community activities, including housing organic and natural vendors and consumers. The article states that in response, an appreciation day was held by the farmers market so the various local farmers could display their gratitude. According to North Country Public Radio, “This market has been running for about 10 years, and used to be held at the fairgrounds. Everyone here seems to agree that this new pavilion is a big improvement.” In addition, the revitalization project “brightened up the downtown Watertown area with ornamental lighting, new benches, and freshly paved streets.”
Colle, the world’s first online farmers market community, is thrilled by the new farmers market expansion in Watertown. The people at Colle understand that location and budget may make it difficult for consumers in other parts of the United States to connect with natural and organic vendors and vice versa. To give everyone the opportunity to eat well and feel great, Colle has produced an online directory and virtual marketplace for vendors and consumers alike.
North Country Public Radio quotes natural vending shopper Gail Parsons who stated, “I used to go to the fairground, and it seemed like we had to go all over the place to find where they were. Now, we have one location. We have all the wonderful parking where it's very convenient, and I just think it's been a great addition to Watertown.”
Colle is an E-Commerce enabled farmers market community that is passionate about sustainable consumption and responsible conservation. The Colle movement wants to join natural product vendors, organic farmers, and all consumers who strive to live an organic and natural lifestyle with the main goal of creating more sustainable farming and consumerism.
