On September 5, 2012, the ultimate obstacle race Spartan Race was thrilled to announce that UFC light-weight fighter Jim Miller will be attending the Tri-State Super Spartan Race on September 8th in Vernon, NJ.
According to Spartan Race representative Carrie Adams, the 28 year-old UFC fighter and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt holds a 21-4-0 record. Additionally, out of his ten most recent fights, Miller was victorious eight times. Now the New Jersey native will further reveal his strength this September, stating, “These types of races have always intrigued me. It sounds like a fun challenge.”
The article states that Miller decided to add running to his traditional training routine in order to prepare for the race. The UFC fighter plans on adding “Four, five, or six miles before my normal training.” Adams explains that his strategy may be beneficial, as the Tri-State Super Spartan is an eight mile course along the Mountain Creek ski slopes and will be packed with approximately 20 obstacles. According to Adams, Miller can expect to jump fire, climb walls and hills, crawl beneath barbed-wire, and haul sandbags. Regardless of the challenge, Miller affirms, “I think the all-around athleticism to be a well-rounded fighter is going to help; the ability to do physical things for an extended period of time.”
Miller is also eager to interact with his fans. Fans and racers alike can observe the UFC fighter taking on the challenging Tri-State Super Spartan at the Mountain Creek Waterpark in Vernon, New Jersey on September 8th, 2012.
