“It is an honor to accept ICANN’s invitation to serve on the GNSO Council—I look forward to furthering and protecting the interests of ICANN’s stakeholders and constituents through recommending meaningful gTLD policy decisions,” said Jennifer Wolfe.

As a global thought leader on the emerging discipline of generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) strategy for Fortune 1000 organizations, Jennifer Wolfe, president of gTLD digital brand strategy advisory firm Wolfe Domain, was named today to the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council.

As the policy-development body responsible for developing and recommending substantive policies relating to gTLDs to ICANN’s Board, the GNSO Council consists of 23 members. Wolfe was selected for her commitment to ICANN’s mission and understanding of the potential impact of ICANN decisions on the global Internet community; understanding of the DNS and industry structure of the domain name market; demonstrated capacity for thoughtful group decision-making and sound judgment; and expertise regarding the possible impacts and benefits of new gTLDs on the stakeholders in the GNSO including commercial and non-commercial users, Internet infrastructure providers, and ICANN contracted parties.

“It is an honor to accept ICANN’s invitation to serve on the GNSO Council—I look forward to furthering and protecting the interests of ICANN’s stakeholders and constituents through recommending meaningful gTLD policy decisions,” said Wolfe. “Creating and evolving key policies around the next generation of the gTLD landscape will have significant impacts on companies’ innovation opportunities.”

Wolfe will serve a two-year commitment on the GNSO Council, which will begin following the 2012 ICANN Annual General Meeting on October 19.
