Upon learning about the new agency-search consultancy, Madam, Red Square Agency has politely decided to politely opt out.
In response to Madam’s process, Red Square has created a “mood board” on Pinterest, which provides more of a “touchy-feely” summary of the agency’s emotions after reading about Madam in AdAge.
“Our emotional response was hard to wrangle in any place but Pinterest. It’s almost like Pinterest was invented to allow us to express ourselves in response to Madam’s approach,” said Rich Sullivan, agency president and executive creative director.
“Further, we’ve developed a proprietary system whereby we begin with 50 moods to share our feelings. We’ll winnow these moods down with our special Mood Winnowing Process™: 50, 47, 35, 21, 17, 13, back to 23, 9, 6, 3, 1. With this methodology, we’re avoiding the ‘cattle-call’ process to arrive at a single emotional reaction. We hope to share that by early 2015.”
“If most search consultancies are a spreadsheet and Madam is an app, then our process is like a spreadsheet app,” Sullivan continued. “It’s very, very disruptive disruption.”
As the agency landscape continues to evolve, Red Square Agency is no stranger to competition. “We don’t mind competition. We know it’s part of any industry,” said Sullivan. “The best reviews we’ve taken part in, however, have not been laborious processes that require a degree in higher math. The key elements in a successful relationship are respect and trust. We’re not sure there’s an algorithm for that.”
