FlexJobs’ CEO & Founder Sara Sutton Fell will join Dr. Woody, author of the career-focused book "The YOU Plan," to host a free webinar, “Finding Flexible Work,” on September 18, 10am PST/1pm EST. In addition to discussing the variety of positions out there, topics will include taking charge of your career, finding flexible jobs, avoiding job search scams, and pitching a flexible work arrangement to your current employer.

“We are often approached by job seekers asking which types of flexible positions are available and how to get these jobs,” shared Fell. “Our free webinar is a great solution to help address these types of questions and hopefully equip those who attend with the skills to land a flexible job.”

As far as which career fields had the most available positions for the month of August 2012, the Flexible Jobs Index (FJI) tracked the 50+ career fields hiring and found the top 5 with open jobs were:

1. Medical & Health
2. Customer Service
3. Administrative
4. Education & Training
5. Sales

These five fields have held the top spots since July 2012.

“With so much variety in positions that can offer flex schedules, Medical & Health tends to dominate month after month,” stated Fell. “However, the overall outlook for flexible jobs is optimistic as our Flexible Jobs Index (FJI) showed that there were diverse career fields that saw increases in current hiring, such as Sports & Fitness, Graphic Design, and Ecommerce.”

The largest increases of available flexible positions in general from July to August saw large month to month jumps, especially in Sports & Fitness, indicative of these particular positions possibly being seasonal based on weather. The top 5 fields that saw the largest jumps were:

1. Sports and Fitness up 110%
2. Graphic Design up 60.66%
3. Internet and Ecommerce up 53%
4. Computer and IT up 27.36%
5. Customer Service up 9.74%
