Survalent Technology’s SCADA system for Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) is gaining recognition and increasing tourism to Benguet, a province in the Philippines, as visitors come to observe how they are using the SCADA system to maximize efficiency.
BENECO, organized and registered as a non-profit, was granted by the National Electrification Commission the sole franchise to operate an electric light and power service in the City of Baguio and Benguet province for a period of fifty (50) years. Benguet, originally referred to as the lush valley of La Trinidad, is the present capital town of the province.
BENECO’s system features Survalent’s highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server. It includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: WorldView, SCADA Explorer, Event Data Recording, IED Wizard, Control Panel, Remote Alarm Annunciation, Command Sequencing, SCS and DNP 3.0
“We are thankful and we take pride of BENECO as a showcase in the use of system technology in the electric distribution utility and rural electrification,” states Edita Bueno, Administrator of the National Electrification Administration.
According to BENECO’s Administrative Officer Leonardo Belingon, the educational tours to BENECO prove that their benchmarking initiatives have been successful.
