FCA, LLC, the leader in custom industrial packaging solutions, announced that their Design and Engineering Test Lab has expanded its package testing capabilities to include a compression testing machine. The Compression testing machine, built by Lansmont, has a maximum force range of 50,000lbs and a 72” X 72” platen size.
Nathan Weeks, R&D Facility Manager at the FCA DTEC (Design, Testing and Engineering Center) says, “The addition of the compression testing machine to FCA’s R&D lab is tremendous. The compression tester will allow us to further our understanding of the material strength characteristics and apply that understanding to our designs and our FEA (Finite Element Analysis) capabilities.”
“FCA has created a large proprietary database of various material properties from natural lumber to engineered wood and other substrates that is invaluable in terms of packaging design and ultimate value to our customers”, said David Wilsted, VP of Sales and Marketing for FCA. The compression tester expands FCA’s ISTA-certified lab testing equipment which also includes an incline impact testing machine, a vibration shake table, and Finite Element Analysis capabilities.
