Emerging Wellness Company Recognized For Continued Growth and Impact on Employer Health Initiatives

eMindful, a leading provider of evidence-based wellness programs for employers and insurers, has been recognized as a Florida Companies to WatchSM winner.

eMindful was selected from among 425 nominees, all companies beyond the startup phase with the intent and capacity for significant, sustainable growth. These companies demonstrate high performance in the marketplace or exhibit innovative products or processes.

Florida Companies to Watch is an awards program that celebrates privately held second-stage companies headquartered in the state. To be eligible, applicants must employ between 6 and 99 full-time equivalent employees and have between $750,000 and $50 million in annual revenue or working capital in place. Awardees are selected for demonstrating the intent and capacity to grow based on employee or sales growth, exceptional entrepreneurial leadership, sustainable competitive advantage, outstanding corporate culture, inspired community giving and other notable strengths.

In its second year, Florida Companies to Watch is presented by SunTrust Banks and the University of Central Florida in association with the Edward Lowe Foundation and with special support from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

Collaborating with Duke Integrative Medicine and other leading industry experts, eMindful has leveraged hundreds of research studies to develop health and wellness programs serving employers and health insurers. Targeting both health costs and employee productivity, the programs have been demonstrated to effectively address employee stress and chronic diseases. The Florida Companies to Watch award comes as eMindful receives growing recognition for its innovative programs supported by rigorous research. Aetna, a leading health care insurer, is one of eMindful’s early customers and was recently recognized by the National Business Group on Health for its employee wellness and stress management programs. Researchers found that Aetna employees reporting the highest level of stress (in the top quintile) had higher medical costs−nearly $2,000 more annually−than those reporting the lowest level of stress. eMindful’s program with Aetna was found to significantly lower stress and improve sleep quality and cardiac health.
