Top Echelon Contracting (TEC) recently unveiled a new tool contractors can use when trying to determine which healthcare plan to select.

TEC, a provider of contract staffing back-office services to recruiters since 1992, handles all of the financial, legal, and administrative details associated with a contract placement. As the W-2 Employer of Record for the contractors, TEC offers a full menu of benefits, including healthcare insurance through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Contractors who qualify for the healthcare insurance can choose between three plans with varying premiums, deductibles, copays, etc. To help contractors make the best decisions for their families, TEC can now refer them to the Health Plan Evaluator, offered through ACS Care and Quality Solutions. This tool estimates out-of-pocket expenses for each of the plans by taking into account the age, gender, and health status of each participant.

“Selecting a healthcare plan can be very confusing, especially for employees who are considering it for the first time,” said TEC’s Human Resource Manager Diane Marzec. “In fact, one of the most common questions we get from employees regarding benefits is ‘What is the best plan?’ That’s a difficult question to answer because the plan that is best for one employee may not be the best for another. This tool takes into account all of the variables to show employees which plan will most likely be the most cost-efficient for one them.”

Contract staffing arrangements are becoming more popular as people seek greater flexibility in where and when they work. However, many workers who could benefit from working on contract shy away from contract assignments because they believe they can’t get insurance benefits. TEC’s unique business model allows workers to enjoy the flexibility that comes with working on contract without sacrificing the perks of traditional employment. In addition to healthcare insurance, TEC offers contractors dental, vision, and life/AD&D insurance, as well as a 401(k) savings plan. TEC’s contractors also receive weekly paychecks with the option for direct deposit and are protected by the company’s unemployment and workers’ compensation insurance.

Contractors who are employed by TEC can get access to the Health Plan Evaluator by emailing the company at HR(at)TopEchelonContracting(dot)com
