Audiences have been fascinated with the great white shark and deep sea adventure stories for decades – from the late ′50s-early ′60s television show “Sea Hunt” to the ′75 classic film “Jaws” to more recent movies like ′99’s “Deep Blue Sea.” Offering readers her take on this familiar theme, Stephanie Griffith delivers “The Deadly Assignment” (published by AuthorHouse), her new novel about deep sea terror.
Rick Dellinger, a marine biologist, has been called to one of the toughest assignment he has ever been given. The only thing he knows is that several people have been killed while swimming in the coastal waters. While on the assignment, he meets up with fellow marine biologist and former girlfriend, Kelly Anderson. Together they work with the help of two other marine biologists in pursuit of the most terrifying creature under the sea.
“The Deadly Assignment” is Griffith’s reaction to modern trends in society and science. “Today’s society is so focused on being able to change the natural things in our world,” she says. “Through the process of cloning, genetic engineering and adaptation, our society is constantly exploring new ways to alter science to better our lives.”
Griffith hopes to show readers what happens when science’s efforts to control the natural world get out of control, warning them to be wary of holding on too stubbornly to potentially harmful practices and pursuits.
