SMi Group are pleased to announce that Air Products will be in attendance together with Westinghouse Plasma Corporation at SMi Group’s fifth annual Energy from Waste conference, taking place in London on 17-18 September 2012.

Lisa Jordan, responsible for the development of Air Products’ Energy from Waste (EfW) business in Europe, will unveil the details of the world’s largest renewable energy plant to use gasification EfW technology at the event, in one of their first public appearances since their high-profile announcement in August 2012. She will share a presentation with Westinghouse Plasma Corporation’s President Richard Fish, who will describe the advanced gasification technology to be used at this plant.

The recent announcement by Air Products of the world’s largest EfW plants to be constructed near Billingham in Tees Valley in the North East of England comes as part of a recent spate of newly announced EfW projects across the UK. The use of Westinghouse Plasma Corporation’s advanced gasification technology at this plant will allow for cleaner conversion of waste to energy than traditional technologies and will help generate enough energy to power up to 50,000 homes using 350,000 metric tons of non-recyclable waste every year, starting in 2014.

Air Products’ Bio-energy Europe Business Manager Lisa Jordan commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to speak alongside Westinghouse Plasma at this event. We are looking forward to sharing further details about our Tees Valley Renewable Energy Facility, the first advanced gasification facility in the UK and the largest of its kind in the world.”

Westinghouse Plasma Corporation’s President Richard Fish added: “Air Products’ decision to move ahead with the Tees Valley Project is one of the biggest milestones to date for Westinghouse Plasma Corp. We are delighted to sponsor SMi Group’s Energy from Waste conference at this crucial time for us and we are pleased to be able to share a platform with Air Products, and indeed with colleagues from across the Energy from Waste community, at this event as we embark on the construction stage of the world’s largest Energy from Waste project to date.”
