Future Inn Cardiff is geared up to play host to the owners of the exclusive Alvis Cars from 7th to the 9th of September 2012.

Future Inns’ flagship hotel in Cardiff offers 197 spacious and air-conditioned modern bedrooms, 7 conference suits, onsite restaurant and 220 free car parking spaces and is the perfect venue to host this event and other corporate events, weddings and launch parties.

The Alvis Owner Club was founded in 1951, is now in its 61st year and will be celebrating their 57th International Alvis Day on 9th September 2012. It is the first event to be held in the Principality of Wales and will see a mixture of social, competitive and touring events centered on membership of the club and ownership of an Alvis.

Alvis Car Company was founded in 1919 by T.G. Johns, the well established Engineer from Wales. He set up the company after a winning financial backing from his home town of Pembroke Dock. He held a track record in building Submarines and other warships along with the involvement in the manufacture of aero engines. He led the company into its expansion into Fighting Vehicles and Aero engines in the 1930s but died before the value of the investment was realised post World War Two.

Famous owners of the Alvis Cars include well known personalities such as Tim Birkin, Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, Douglas Bader and the Duke of Edinburgh who remains an owner to this day and has his car on show at Sandringham.

Future Inns Group Operations Manager, Paul Lago said, “We are thrilled to be hosting this prestigious event here at the Future Inn Cardiff which attracts Alvis Car owners from the UK, Europe, Australia and Malta. It’s a real international weekend indeed! We look forward to giving them a warm welcome and would encourage anyone with an interest in classic cars to come and see these vehicles on display here at the hotel.”
