Stamford, CT (PRWEB) September 07, 2012

Lyme Research Alliance (LRA), formerly known as Time For Lyme, will host its first annual Golf Tourament on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, CT. Proceeds from the tournament will go to LRA, which raises funds to fight Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

“We’re proud to host this event to raise funds for our ongoing support of medical research,” said Peter Wild, Lyme Research Alliance’s Executive Director. “This is one of the worst tick seasons ever so supporting research that leads to a reliable diagnostic test and ultimately a cure for Lyme is more urgent than ever.”

The tournament is led by event chairs, Jim Edwards, Tony Frascella, Alan Herzog, Malcolm McAvity and Kelly O’Dea of Greenwich and opens with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. Following the tournament there will be a cocktail reception, silent auction and awards ceremony. The cost is $1,000 per player; $3,500 per foursome. The prize lineup starts with an Infiniti JX for a hole in one, supplied by Pepe Auto Group of Westchester, NY.

The private 18-hole Stanwich Club, set on 450 acres, is annually ranked as one of the nation’s top courses. Generally considered the best in Connecticut with its fierce greens and tight fairways, the Stanwich Club was built in the 1960s by golf architects William and David Gordon. In 2005, the club underwent an extensive renovation and redesign by world-renowned golf architect Tom Fazio and in 2006 it was named by Golf Digest as America’s “Best New Remodel.” The Palmer Cup, an international collegiate competition between the United States and Europe, was played at the Stanwich Club last year.

Businesses and individuals are invited to become tournament sponsors. Space is limited.
