Homeowners who need to sell a house fast may be seeing little signs everywhere that say "We Buy Houses," but they need to be wary before turning their most valuable asset over to a total stranger, according to a new book published today on Kindle.
One of the greatest risks you take when you deal with these people is many of them actually do not "buy" houses, according to George Beardsley, the author, one of the we buy houses guys himself, and the Broker of a Dunedin, FL real estate company.
"When most people think of selling a house they believe the other person is actually going to buy and in a lot of cases, that just doesn't happen," Beardsley said. "Often the 'buyer' simply wants to get your house under contract and then tries to sell the contract to someone else for more money,"he said.
"Not that there is anything wrong with getting an option to buy your house and then looking for a buyer at a higher price, as long as the original seller knows that a month or two down the road he may still own a home, having made a couple of extra payments," he said.
"Like any professon, some of these folks have been around for years and offer a valuable service, but better you know who does and who just wants to get home under contract and try to make money at your expense," he said.
In "How to Sell Your House Fast to the We Buy Houses Guys . . . Without Being Eaten Alive," Beardsley exposes some of the dangers and how to check the home buyers out as well as they have checked out your home before you even meet them. And with the Internet, the cost and effort of checking is minimal, he said.
In fact, he said, with a little information, you may be able to do everything the home buyer does and pocket the difference, and we show how to go about that as well, he said.
The new book is "How to Sell Your House Fast to the We Buy Houses Guys . . . Without Being Eaten Alive and available for $2.99 at Kindle.
