It was incredible to be able to not only help change their lives through a makeover, but also be there emotionally for them as they went through some pretty big changes
Century City, CA (PRWEB) September 10, 2012
Paul Mitchell® will help CBS Television Distribution’s The Doctors usher in their 5th season this week (check local listings), with a starring role in the premiere episode, dubbed "the biggest makeover show in history," in which a team of more than 50 hairstylists, led by Paul Mitchell Co-Owner and Artistic Director of Education, Angus Mitchell, provide hair transformations for 175 audience members.
Mitchell, along with Paul Mitchell Vice President of Education and Artistic Director Stephanie Kocielski and a team of Future Professionals from local Southern California Paul Mitchell® Schools in Costa Mesa, Pasadena, and Sherman Oaks utilized the brand’s innovative professional product and tool offering to cut, color and style hair for women and men in the audience. New products from Paul Mitchell, including Paul Mitchell Curls, Forever Blonde™ and MITCH® by Paul Mitchell —all featuring healthy, sulfate-free formulas designed to care for and treat curly, blonde and men’s hair, respectively—helped to provide a dramatic reveal for the participants.
Many emotional moments took place backstage, as the audience members, several of whom suffered recent hardships, were overjoyed by their transformations. According to Mitchell, who directed the team of hairstylists in the cutting and coloring of the audience, the most moving part of the makeovers was the emotional support the Paul Mitchell stylists were able to offer the audience members. “It was incredible to be able to not only help change their lives through a makeover, but also be there emotionally for them as they went through some pretty big changes,” said Mitchell. “People like Brenda, who had waist-length hair, were understandably very nervous about getting their hair cut. It was important for us to be able to offer our support, make them feel comfortable, and help them embrace change.” In the end, Brenda had two feet of hair cut off, which was donated to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hair prosthetics, made of donated hair, to disadvantaged children who are suffering from hair loss.
Added Kocielski, “Never in my thirty years as a hairdresser have I ever been as artistically and emotionally moved as I was during this experience. It was such a joy to see what we at Paul Mitchell can do for people as part of our commitment to making the planet a better place.”
Audience members were also treated to an Awapuhi Wild Ginger® Essentials Kit and MITCH by Paul Mitchell Travel Kit, which include favorites from each collection. Each kit boasts a combined retail value of $70.
The Doctors season premiere episode airs on Monday, September 10 in the New York City market and Tuesday, September 11 in all other markets (check local listings). For further information on Paul Mitchell, please visit http://www.paulmitchell.com.
