On September 14th, collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution reacts to an article published for which discusses New York State’s latest efforts to collect unpaid child support from non-custodial parents.

As reported on, the New York Department of Taxation and Finance (DTF) has hired new debt collection agents in an effort to collect unpaid child support from delinquent non-custodial parents. The article explains that although the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) already has 40 collection agents on their team, they have added two more for New York City and two more for Syracuse. reports that in New York State, “if a parent owes four or more months of child support and is not paying by income withholding, OTDA will refer the case to the Tax Department.” Additionally, the article refers to Taxation and Finance Department Commissioner Thomas H. Mattox who expressed that new technology will be implemented in order to locate delinquent parents.

The article states that the DTF will issue warrants on the assets, like personal property and bank accounts, of delinquent non-custodial parents. John Monderine, CEO of the collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution, believes that adding additional debt collectors will not make much of a difference for custodial parents. According to Monderine, “The state’s two collectors won’t make a dent in the child support arrears. There is support out there that can help custodial parents recover what is rightfully theirs.” reports that “Delinquent non-custodial parents who are eligible for a state tax refund can also have it taken away as their refund is used to offset past due child support.” According to the article, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo believes the new debt collection enforcement will encourage the well-being of children residing in New York.
