TicketBiscuit, a leading ticketing services provider, today announced integration with Apple Passbook. The announcement comes on the heels of Apple’s media event where the iPhone5 and iOS6 were unveiled.

Passbook is a new feature built into iOS6 devices that enables people to store everything from tickets to loyalty cards and coupons directly on their smartphone devices. With TicketBiscuit’s integration, patrons who buy tickets to any of TicketBiscuit’s 500+ US-based clients, or any clients of its South African partner, Tixsa, will have the option of sending their tickets to their Passbook after purchase. Passbook tickets can then be scanned at the point of entry to events, meaning that the customer never has to hold a paper ticket. Passbook tickets can be transferred and shared among friends and social network connections with a few simple swipes. Passbook will be backward compatible with devices to 2009’s iPhone 3GS.

“Doing mobile right is absolutely crucial to the future of live event ticketing.” says TicketBiscuit CMO, Eric Housh. “We’ve had the ability to deliver a barcoded ticket to the customer on the mobile phone for quite some time, and now Apple Passbook has just brought a whole new level of convenience and cool factor to the experience.”

TicketBiscuit began providing mobile optimized websites and mobile ticketing to its clients in 2008. Since that time, Housh says, traffic to TicketBiscuit client websites from mobile devices has steadily increased. “In 2011, one in every four web visits to our clients in the music industry came via a mobile device. This year so far, it’s closer to one in three. It’s a trend we expect to continue as smart phone usage continues to increase.”
