I’m glad to see people are trying to make running more fun. These themed runs encourage creativity. Because they are so creative, kids are getting more involved in running.

Running for health, sport and fun is getting a whole lot more fun across the nation, especially as run organizers work to bring in new ideas. One of those ideas is the 5K color run.

Participants in the color run get splattered with harmless paint at stations along the run route. By the time they cross the finish line, they look like a work of modern art. Runners are requested to wear a white shirt so the colors will show better and they will have a unique shirt to remind them of the run.

Color runs are only one of a number of fun runs. The Foam Fest Run has runners charge through a foam-filled tunnel with foam so high and thick they can’t see over or through it. Additional obstacles are placed in the runners’ way to make the path to the finish line both entertaining and sometimes challenging.

And speaking of challenge, how’s your cardiovascular system? Rule one is to make sure you are in shape so you can outrun the zombies. But now the zombies are getting into the act too. Zombie runs see people turn out in their most zombie-like outfits and makeup to run, jog and stagger to the finish line and maybe get something to chomp when they cross.

“Running should be fun,” said runner and author Ryan Robert. His new ebook, “The Ultimate Beginners Running Guide: The Key To Running Inspired,” is available on the Kindle platform from Amazon.

“I’m glad to see people are trying to make running more fun. These themed runs encourage creativity. Because they are so creative, kids are getting more involved in running,” he said. “That’s a great thing to have happen. If kids get interested in running when young, chances are good they’ll keep it up as an adult.”

Robert’s book is a guide for anyone, no matter the age, who wants to start running. It has tips and techniques which will help beginners avoid the most common mistakes and injuries which plague beginners and convince them to quit running.

“Running should be something you’d do because you enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy it, you won’t keep doing it,” he said. “Let me share my experiences to make my passion become a fun activity for you.”

Robert’s ebook, “The Ultimate Beginners Running Guide: The Key To Running Inspired” is available for $4.99. Kindle Prime members may borrow the book at no charge at http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Beginners-Running-Guide-ebook/dp/B0071G22AW .
