Dr. Babak Larian, ENT expert and passionate humanitarian, preparing for volunteer trip to Tejutla, Guatemala.

I truly am a passionate humanitarian, and I hope I will be able to use my surgical expertise to help a lot of young individuals during my upcoming trip to Tejutla, Guatemala.

As a renowned Beverly Hills ENT surgeon, Dr. Larian understands the importance of treating those members of the community who, for one reason or another, are otherwise unable to obtain healthcare. Due to the lack of access to modern medical care, a staggering number of children in third world countries suffer with deformities their whole lives. That is why Dr. Larian is proud to contribute his surgical expertise in those areas of the world where medical care is less accessible.

“There is a backlog of 4.5 to 5 million children and adults around the world who on a daily basis continuously suffer from untreated cleft conditions and other congenital deformities. By volunteering for some truly fantastic medical nonprofits, I have been a part of helping over 1,000 children per year heal, which is great,” says Dr. Larian.

In volunteering for Medical Missions for Children and the Global Smile Foundation, Dr. Larian is able to offer free surgical services to underprivileged children and young adults in developing countries, such as Guatemala and El Salvador. The volunteers of these organizations hail from the most well respected hospitals, centers, and institutions in the United States and abroad.

Medical Missions for Children is a nonprofit organization with a dedicated group of approximately 375 volunteer surgeons and medical specialists. The volunteer team travel to remote geographical locations around the world, helping children and young adults suffering from cleft lip, palate deformities, burn injuries, microtia, and head and neck tumors.

“I am honored to be a part of an organization that has an astonishing 93% of all donations go directly to the missions. That is a number most other charitable organizations are not even close to,” says Dr. Larian.

The Global Smile Foundation (GSF), meanwhile, shares a similar mission. Their goal is to alleviate the suffering of underserved patients born with facial congenital deformities, with special emphasis on cleft lips and palates.

“Working with GSF has been great, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The organization firmly believes that all communities, regardless of socioeconomic, racial, or religious backgrounds, deserve the right to receive first rate care by highly qualified professionals, and I couldn’t agree more,” says Dr. Larian.

But the Global Smile Foundation does not only offer corrective surgical procedures, but also comprehensive care coupled with educational and preventive programs. The people behind GSF have been actively involved with global outreach programs for the past 24 years, visiting countries in Latin America, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent.

“I truly am a passionate humanitarian, and I hope I will be able to use my surgical expertise to help a lot of young individuals during my upcoming trip to Tejutla, Guatemala,” concludes Dr. Larian.
