Palm Harbor, FL (PRWEB) September 11, 2012

The (ISC)2 (“ISC-squared”) Foundation, a charitable trust that aims to make the cyber world safer for everyone, today announced the recipients of its 2011 and 2012 Information Security Scholarships. The (ISC)² Foundation Scholarship Program opens doors to future information security professionals with scholarships for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students.

(ISC)²’s long history of granting scholarships focuses on promoting the growth of the global cyber security workforce and illuminating the pathway for these future information security professionals. With more than US$300,000 grants given since the program began in 2004, these scholarships also support high-level research that advances cutting-edge cyber security knowledge at the graduate level to benefit the broader information security community and society. Earlier this year, the Foundation introduced a scholarship for women and established the Harold F. Tipton Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide passionate, aspiring young information security professionals the means to follow the pathway to industry excellence, as constructed by the grant’s namesake and (ISC)² founder Harold F. Tipton.

“Promoting career opportunities through scholarships demonstrates our investment in the cyber security workforce of the future,” said Julie Peeler, director for the (ISC)² Foundation. “With cyber security being a primary issue in every area of life, we hope our scholarship opportunities will help recruit and cultivate a workforce capable of preventing, detecting and responding to attacks on information assets. We congratulate all the recipients for their achievements and for propelling the information security field to new heights.”
