Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of smart grid solutions for the control room, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Mayfield Electric & Water Systems.
Mayfield Electric & Water Systems is a publicly-owned utility, governed by The Electric Plant Board-City of Mayfield, serving customers in the city of Mayfield. They serve over 5,600 customers, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers. They are a member of Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) and Kentucky Municipal Utilities Association (KMUA).
The new system features Survalent’s highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. It includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: WorldView, SCADA Explorer, Event Data Recording, IED Wizard, Control Panel, Remote Alarm Annunciation, SCADA Add-in for MS Excel and Access, Operations and Outages Accounting, External Clock Interface (GPS), WebSurv and Virtual RTU.
“Mayfield has selected Survalent as their first SCADA system along with the addition of a new substation,” states Steve Strauss, Vice President of Sales for the Eastern United States. “The new SCADA system and substation will allow them to make better use of the new IEDs in the substation and get additional value from the available data. They are also able to use the smart phones to monitor the system and receive real time alarms. We welcome Mayfield to our growing group of over 30 TVA Power Distributors that use Survalent for their SCADA system.”
