RACmonitor, the single most important source of recovery auditor news and information, has announced plans to stage a one-day symposium surrounding third party auditors who contract with the federal government to review Medicare and Medicaid billing submitted by healthcare provider organizations.

The event, called the RACmonitor Upfront Live Symposium, is slated to be held on Thursday, October 24 in Chicago at the Palmer House, according to Chuck Buck, RACmonitor publisher. Buck said the Upfront, brings together top experts and industry professionals who will share “invaluable” insight on the latest recovery auditing tactics as well as proven methods to mitigate financial compliance risk and manage the claims’ denial process.

“Today, in this heightened risk environment, healthcare providers need to be aware of that even the slightest misstep on their part in the audit process could turn into a significant financial loss and potential criminal prosecution,” Buck said. “The situation faced by providers as they plan for the government’s new fiscal year is that there’s a new breed of auditors who are using advanced technology to identify overpayments.”

Linda Kloss, the former CEO of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) from 1995 to 2010 and now is principal for Kloss Strategic Advisors, will be the keynote speaker, addressing the group Wednesday morning.
