The first, Flyover Country, Not this Kansas City highlights how the Kansas City Metropolitan area is becoming the envy of individuals on the East and West coasts who have long since considered it merely flyover country. The Wall Street Journal recently coined Kansas City as "Silicon Prairie" and believes that the first Google Fiber network in the country "will likely bolster cloud-based technologies and pave the way for high-definition streaming services that will be hard to find elsewhere." Google is building its first ultra high-speed broadband network between Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. Kansas City was chosen over 1,100 other cities. Google Fiber will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans experience. Kansas City is flourishing as a hub of cutting-edge innovation, technology and creativity.
The second, Crowdfunding Civic Infrastructure? The Next Big Thing shows how a simple, but innovative platform for creative projects is taking the civic project world by storm. At a time where funding from local, state or federal government is a big if and taxpayers are burnt out on funding major infrastructure or neighborhood projects, crowdfunding is becoming the answer. A concept where we elevate civic pride and short circuit the political process to some extent -- a "roll up your sleeves" mentality. neighbor.ly created a system where everyone wins through crowdfunding and is proving that technology, entrepreneurship and civic project funding are no longer strange bedfellows throughout the country.
The third, Want Mobile App Users? Social Sharing Is a Must addresses one of the biggest challenges facing mobile app developers today. Obtaining the right exposure to their app, which will result in actual downloads. If a mobile developer wants their app to have a chance of being downloaded and used, integrating social sharing is a must. Social sharing is an apps integration with social media channels where the app shares information to services and feeds such as Twitter and Facebook.
