Insurance software company Applied Systems today announced the opening of its data centre in Canada to meet the growing demand of insurance brokers who choose cloud-based solutions.
The facility is Applied Systems’ third data centre and its first outside the United States. The centre will be located in the greater Toronto area, providing Applied Systems’ Canadian customers with application access and data storage within the country.
Applied Systems reports that 94 percent of its new customers choose online management systems for advantages such as enhanced security against physical and electronic threats; accessibility to information from outside an agency or brokerage office through a laptop or smart device; and better disaster recovery. Brokers that have moved to an online environment said they have taken the time saved from not having to administer IT and focused it more on selling and servicing customers.
"Today, more than half of our customers have moved their broker management systems online to take advantage of enhanced security, reduced operating cost, and increased access to client and policy information," said Applied Systems CEO Reid French. "We have seen a significant increase in demand for the online environment with our recent announcements of TAM® 12 and Epic® 7 for the Canadian market, as well as our recent acquisition of Compu-Quote, which is available in the online environment."
Applied Systems said Vancouver, B.C.-based PEER 1 Hosting, a leading global IT hosting provider, is supplying colocation services for the Canadian data centre.
