Foundation Financial Group teamed up with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to raise funds for childhood cancer research. On September 5th, Foundation Financial employees across the nation joined together in support of the St. Baldrick’s head shaving event, which was the first FFG corporate sponsored event of its kind. During the 30 day fundraising period, Foundation Financial employees personally donated and accumulated 176.18 percent of their original goal.

Each Foundation Financial employee had the opportunity to become a “Shavee”, a volunteer, or to make a monetary donation to the cause during the fundraising period. All employees who signed up to be “Shavees” participated by raising funds and awareness for the cause and by having their heads buzzed by a St. Baldrick’s approved hair professional during the event at Jocks and Jills America’s Sports Grill located in the Galleria Mall in Atlanta, Georgia. FFG “Shavees” in offices other than Atlanta were broadcasted via live feeds and viewed on projection screens around the sports grill while they were having their heads buzzed. Overall, 10 percent of Foundation Financial Group employees shaved their heads in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The St. Baldrick’s event gave us the opportunity to not only raise funds for childhood cancer research, but to increase awareness as well. The “Shavees” demonstrated their solidarity with children who lose their hair through cancer treatment by shaving their heads; I can’t think of a better way to show support and commitment to improving our community.”

More than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. The St. Baldrick's Foundation was formed with one goal in mind: to find a cure for every child that is diagnosed with this disease. St. Baldrick's has grown into the largest volunteer driven fundraising event for childhood cancer. Each year over 200,000 people volunteer to shave their heads in support of kids who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatments.

With the funds that are raised through these volunteer efforts, grants are made in order to find a cure for childhood cancer. Since 2005, over $100 million has been granted towards childhood cancer research, due to the efforts of the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
