FierceMarkets (http://www.fiercemarkets.com) recently announced the launch of the Fierce Innovation Awards, an operator-reviewed awards program from the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable. Applications for the awards are now being accepted.

The panel of carrier-only judges include Stephen Bye, CTO and VP of Technology Development & Strategy at Sprint; Tom Nagel, SVPof Business Development & Strategy, for Communications & Data Services at Comcast Cable; Todd Smith, Director of Media Relations at Cox Communications; and Jim Wales, Executive Director of Networks at Verizon. Additional judges from major US carriers will be announced in the coming weeks.
Judges will evaluate submissions based on effective application of and performance in networks, innovative approach, and overall contribution to revenue andprofitability.
Award winners will be selected in each of the following categories: Network Innovation, Mobile Network, Telecom Network and Cable Network. Four overall "Best in Show" winners will also be selected from all entries based on the following categories: Overall Most Innovative, Best New Product/ Service, Most Productive and Most Efficient/Cost-Saver.
