Colle, an online platform for organic vendors and consumers, responds to a Mother Nature Network article concerning the various advantages of eating organic foods.

On September 13th, the online organic farmers market community Colle reacts to an article published for Mother Nature Network which discusses the various benefits, from better taste to fewer pesticides, of eating organically.

According to the article, the organic industry helps to prevent “millions of pounds of pesticides from making their way into the environment— seeping into our already limited freshwater resources.” In addition, the Mother Nature Network reported that organic produce contains more micronutrients and a compound called phenols which are linked to cancer prevention. The article refers to a 2006 University of Sydney study which states “In studies that satisfied the screening criteria, the absolute levels of micronutrients were higher in organic foods more often than in conventional foods comparisons, and the total micronutrient content, expressed as a percent difference, was higher in organic as compared to conventionally grown produce.” The article also expresses that there are higher levels of pesticides in conventional foods as compared to organic foods.

Mother Nature Network reports, “Since the natural world supplies everything that keeps us healthy, buying organic to reduce the quantity of chemicals in the environment that we all share seems to be a smart, health-conscious decision.” As stated in the article, organic products have several benefits; however it may be difficult for some parts the United States to obtain these goods. Colle commends the awareness the article promotes, stating it was created with a similar mission in mind and believes it is important for people to understand the advantages of eating organically. Colle, an organic farmers market community, provides an online platform to connect consumers with organic product vendors, which will ultimately help create a greener planet.

According to the article, “New York City's best restaurants have been using local, organic produce for 30-40 years — not because their customers demanded it, but because their chefs knew it tasted better.”

Colle is an E-Commerce enabled farmers market community that is dedicated to sustainable consumption and responsible conservation. The Colle movement strives to connect natural product vendors, organic farmers, and all consumers who live an organic and natural lifestyle with the ultimate goal of establishing more sustainable farming and consumerism.
