Brands are leveraging their human capital and increasing their organizational results by creating a strategic D&I management process that is linked and aligned to their organizational goals. Diversity councils are an important component of that plan.
Sanford, Florida (PRWEB) September 14, 2012
Linda Stokes, President and CEO of PRISM International, Inc. and host of the inaugural 2012 Diversity Council Conference says, “Today’s brands are leveraging their human capital and increasing their organizational results by creating a strategic diversity and inclusion management process that is linked and aligned to their organizational goals. An important component of that D&I plan is the establishment of diversity council groups.”
Ms. Stokes says that the rapid interest and growth in diversity councils inspired her to create a specialized practice focusing on the needs of councils. The Association of Diversity Councils became a major resource for D&I council professionals dedicated to increasing the impact, effectiveness and recognition of diversity councils as an essential partner in developing, implementing and maintaining a strategic diversity focus within organizations.
Philip Berry, former Chief Diversity Office of Colgate-Palmolive and the Executive Director of the Association of Diversity Councils states, “For the past four years, the Association hosted the annual Diversity Council Honors Award™. It is the premier annual award that recognizes, honors and celebrates the outstanding contributions and achievements of U.S. diversity councils. However, we realized that there was a need for councils to extend this effort by sharing best practices and increasing their skills and knowledge. That was the impetus behind this year’s inaugural conference.”
The conference has drawn the attention and support of several global leaders that include Walmart, AT&T, Comcast, FedEx Freight, American Airlines, Microsoft, Hyatt, the Boeing Company, Siemens and Wipro Technologies.
Mr. Berry is excited to see the participation of many industry council leaders – several who were recipients of last year’s Diversity Council Honors Award™. He remarks, “In the “Conversations With The Top” segment of the agenda, Council professionals will be inspired by conversations with D&I leaders of some of the best brands that include: Dr. Danielle Robinson, Director of Diversity at Diageo North America; Victoria Martin, Chief Diversity Office at Chartis; Jeannette Kilo-Smith, Vice President Diversity & Inclusion at Walmart and Maria Arias, Executive Director of Diversity & Inclusion at Comcast Corporation.”
The conference will culminate that evening will the 2012 Diversity Council Honors Award™ dinner and celebration featuring speaker Captain Ken Barrett, U.S. Navy (Ret.) Chief Diversity Officer at General Motors and the Top Recipient of the 2011 Diversity Council Honors Award™ (U.S. Navy Strategic Diversity Working Group).
Ms. Stokes concludes, "We are very pleased with the energy and response surrounding this inaugural event."
