Ms. Stokes says that the rapid interest and growth in diversity councils inspired her to create a specialized practice focusing on the needs of councils. The Association of Diversity Councils became a major resource for D&I council professionals dedicated to increasing the impact, effectiveness and recognition of diversity councils as an essential partner in developing, implementing and maintaining a strategic diversity focus within organizations.

Philip Berry, former Chief Diversity Office of Colgate-Palmolive and the Executive Director of the Association of Diversity Councils states, “For the past four years, the Association hosted the annual Diversity Council Honors Award™. It is the premier annual award that recognizes, honors and celebrates the outstanding contributions and achievements of U.S. diversity councils. However, we realized that there was a need for councils to extend this effort by sharing best practices and increasing their skills and knowledge. That was the impetus behind this year’s inaugural conference.”        

The conference has drawn the attention and support of several global leaders that include Walmart, AT&T, Comcast, FedEx Freight, American Airlines, Microsoft, Hyatt, the Boeing Company, Siemens and Wipro Technologies.
