Dominion Enterprises Day of Caring Volunteer

We take great pride in our history with United Way, especially the annual tradition of volunteering. -- Jack Ross, president and chief operating officer of Dominion Enterprises.

More than 125 employees from Dominion Enterprises (http://www.dominionenterprises.com) will report to work as community volunteers for United Way of South Hampton Roads, on September 14, 2012. Senior executives, computer programmers, and sales representatives will exchange their keyboards and cubicles for hammers and paintbrushes, to work on community service projects throughout the region. The company volunteers multiple teams each year for the Day of Caring. That is followed by a fund-raising drive for the United Way, organized by employees in Dominion's downtown Norfolk corporate office.

Dominion Enterprises looked for 125 hard-working volunteers in 2012, and exceeded that goal more than a month before the Day of Caring. Community service projects will take place throughout South Hampton Roads, including landscaping, painting, clerical work, and construction. Past participation in the Day of Caring brought employees to multiple United Way agencies like ForKids, Portsmouth Area Resources Coalition, and EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program.

“We take great pride in our history with United Way, especially the annual tradition of volunteering,” said Jack Ross, president and chief operating officer of Dominion Enterprises. “United Way agencies made a difference in my life and I’m sure in the lives of other employees who grew up in this area, so I have a personal commitment to sustain the important work they do for families in need. I’m glad to see our employees giving back to their community during the Day of Caring.”

“Day of Caring is the biggest single volunteer event in Hampton Roads,” said Tamikia Vasquez, vice president of community solutions for United Way. “Each year Dominion Enterprises has one of the largest teams. We have been working with Dominion Enterprises since 1991, and I know that over the last 10 years more than 10,000 people have participated.”
