During the week of September 10, 2012 the green living and sustainable living website GoGreen.org released its quarterly social media report. This report showed an increase of 75% in Twitter followers. In addition to the increase the site also showed various other increases in Facebook and other social media platforms. GoGreen.org contributes the increase in social media followers to the expansions and expanded content offered on the site.
Content manager and green living consultant Megan Coogle released the following statement with the quarterly social media report. “We are very pleased to announce a 75% increase in Twitter followers on our quarterly social media report. Though we had hoped for a higher increase this increase is substantial considering the number of Twitter followers that we started with just before the quarter began. We contribute the majority of this increase to a change in our content management formats, the content we offer and to various content plans such as the theme of the week.”
GoGreen.org has announced several expansions in the last few weeks and has several other expansions planned for the coming weeks. Among the GoGreen.org expansions the theme of the week was considered to be one of the largest contributors to the increase in social media and Twitter followers. The theme of the week has focused on various topics such as green living in general, why people should go green, organic gardening, and most recently green home development and building concepts. These various themes have brought in several readers who are concerned with specific topics. In fact, during the same week for why people should go green, the social marketing departments of GoGreen.org announced a significant increase of over 75% on their Facebook site.
Though several expansions are planned for upcoming weeks and months, the content management team of GoGreen.org stated that the most important of these expansions will be a free guide category within the site. Guides will be released on a regular basis and will cover various topics including how to go green, going green and urban environment, solar panel power and various other green living topics. One of the largest of the green guy endeavors will be on off grid living and how to develop your own green from scratch.
