International Radio Emergency Support Coalition and the Webcaster Alliance voice comments.

BRS Media, a diverse and growing media e-commerce firm that helps traditional and interactive media companies build and brand on the power of the Internet, supports the recent comments made by the International Radio Emergency Support Coalition (IRESC) and the Webcaster Alliance (WA), who voiced clear and direct concerns about the European Broadcast Union (EBU) .RADIO New Top-Level Domain (TLD) Application.

BRS Media encourages all Individuals, Organizations or anyone with an interest in the ‘Future of Radio’ to voice their concerns about the EBU ‘Community-Bias’ application, which it believes is full of archaic restrictions deliberately designed to stifle innovation and discriminates against many segments of the RADIO Industry, especially small broadcasters, radio amateurs, Internet broadcasters and online radio entrepreneurs. Both IRESC and WA have been alarmed by similar concerns about the EBU’s application for the .RADIO Top-Level Domain. The International Radio Emergency Support Coalition stated; The EBU proposed application “is not in the best interest of amateur radio operators worldwide,” and Webcaster Alliance wrote; “The EBU does not represent our members, Internet radio, the streaming media community or even a vast majority of the Radio Industry” In Addition, both IRESC and WA also directly addressed the acceptance of the EBU to the ICANN Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) as an outrageous and glaring conflict of interest.

“It’s apparent that the EBU ‘Community-Bias’ application does not represent a vast majority of the Radio Industry, outside of its sister unions. Impartial organizations, like IRESC and Webcaster Alliance understand that the EBU’s archaic restrictions are detrimental to their membership and the Industry At-Large.“ remarked George T. Bundy, Chairman & CEO of BRS Media Inc. “In addition, they recognize the questionable timing of the EBU’s acceptance to the ICANN’s GAC, during this New TLD Application timeframe, to be a clear ‘Conflict of Interest’.”
